The club is situated Carrer Calle Marjalets, best to look out for Banco de Valencia on the corner, off the main street.

We arrived about 1.30 and are immediately struck by the electric atmosphere. The club itself is a good size with the DJ console and dance floor facing you as you walk in. There is a seating area off to the right hand side, which doubles up for some frenetic table dancing in the early wee hours. The bar runs the whole length of the left hand side making it easy to get a drink without having elbow your way through 10 people first, one of my pet hates!

Descorde appeals to a mostly mixed aged Spanish crowd, but they make you feel welcome whatever your nationality. Dancing is obligatory, and with the fantastic mixing skills of their resident DJ, David Garrigues, who skillfully blends top English dance tracks with a unique Latin undertone, it is absolutely impossible to not shake your booty along with everyone else.

Drinks prices are amazingly cheap for a club €5.00 for a spirit mix, €4.00 for a bottle of Heineken and for all you designated drives €2.50 for a coke and €1.50 for water.

Descorde opens Friday & Saturday through the winter months from 12pm and goes right through to 7am as most great Spanish nightclubs do. Their friendly bar staff Patricia, Loro & owner Jose make sure that you night is permanently well oiled with their quick service.

Toilets are kept clean throughout the night, and most importantly toilet roll is re-stocked regularly, so none of that having to steal it earlier in the night and stuff it down your bra for later hurrah!! Descorde is all on one level so great for wheelchair users, they also have a cigarette machine to keep the smoking gang happy too.

The 6am girls had a thoroughly wonderful experience at Descorde and would urge any Costa Blanca club goer to get down there for a refreshing change of scenery in the company of some really Crazy Chico’s.

It has all the elements for a group of you to have a really great night out, and you really can’t beat the fantastic atmosphere this club has, it gets a really big bootilicious thumbs up from the 6am girls.

With it being St Paddy’s day on Monday, the 6am girls went all Irish this weekend, and sampled a bit of the Emerald Isle’s hospitality at the Ann Shebeen Irish Bar in Javea.

Now due to the Irish Bar being one of our local haunts, and the fact that whenever we go there we always experience a great night out, we felt it was our duty to take a very unbiased, fresh look at our favorite hot spot, and see how it rated when we introduced our 6 mission mantra.

We arrived at 11.30, and found the bar to be in full swing party mode with the wonderful Adam King singing his way through a fantastic mix of both old and new tunes that everyone knows and loves. For such an early hour the dance floor was packed, and everyone was singing along at full pelt having a thoroughly great time. So hats off to Adam, he really knows how to whip up his audience and put on a great performance that both young and old will enjoy listening and dancing to.

After a short intermission Adam returned to the stage and was joined by 12 year old Sam Cox. Sam performed a rendition of Obvious by McFly and had the crowd in the palm of his hand with a truly amazing performance. Apparently this is something quite new for Sam; and mum Sue had absolutely no idea of Sam’s talent, until he took a 3 day performing arts course at the Stage School in Javea.

With encouragement from the fantastic teachers Lucy Glister and Emma Devine he is now on his voyage to stardom too. He has performed in many recent productions, including the lead role in the Stage Schools version of Grease playing Danny Zuco. Sam is also set to star in the new Bugsy Malone production as Fat Sam on the 6th June at the Parador Hotel, and in the upcoming Santa Semana fiesta in Javea, where he will be greasing his hair back again and gyrating his hips in another Grease performance.

Sam’s mom would like to say a very special thank you to both Lucy and Emma from the Stage School in Javea, and the Valarie Jean Performing Arts School, as without their encouragement they would never have realized Sam’s talents, or his certain future earning potential!! So watch out Robbie you have some competition coming your way the 6am girls think.

So as you can see the Irish Bar certainly appeals to all age groups, and their friendly staff coupled with a real family atmosphere still gets a real thumbs up from the 6am girls. We love their live music nights, and the variety of bands they bring in for your entertainment is great. If it all gets a bit too much, the bar is split into two levels and the downstairs area gives you the opportunity to take a quiet break if you need to. So is it value for money? The 6am girls think so.

It’s not the cheapest bar in the area, around €3.50 per pint, €4.80 a Gin & Tonic, €1.80 a coke and €4.20 for that all important Irish favorite a pint of Guinness, but we think you’re getting a lot for you Euro and it’s definitely worth it.

So one to some of our other missions. Unfortunately we didn’t eat there on this occasion, but have done on many others. The food caters for just about everyone’s taste buds, with a good selection of great English favorites like “bangers & mash” “steak pie” and “fish ‘n’ chips” all at reasonable prices.

Our only negative comment would be that vegetarians are not really catered for on the menu. We do have a vegetarian in the 6am girls, and probably wouldn’t have noticed the lack of vegetarian options otherwise, but to be fair the Irish Bar have always been very accommodating when we have dinned there, putting together a plate of salad and chips for her, and we have since found out that if you book a table/party and advise the Irish Bar in advance they will prepare a vegetarian meal if one is required, but it would be great in the future to see a couple of alternative vegetarian options introduced on their menu, just for a bit more variety and choice.

We also looked at some of the more general points that influence a good time out.

We noted that there is good disabled access to all the lower levels of the bar, and a disabled toilet is also situated on this level. They also have a cigarette machine and smoking is permitted in most areas. They do have a non smoking area and this is situated between the bars on the mid terrace level. There is a very good ventilation system but non smokers need to be aware that it can get smoky in the upstairs area. Toilets were kept clean throughout the night, service was prompt and tables cleared away of empties quickly.

The 6am girls still think this is a great venue for a really good night out, and has an all round fun, friendly, relaxed atmosphere ideal for a couple or a crowd wanting a good meal with some free live entertainment.

We spoke to Sam the owner to find out what their entertainment diary holds for the upcoming month and it’s packed full of some of the best known bands in the area.

We were all really looking forward to sampling first hand their brilliant barbeque tables, coupled with some great music from the wonderful Mr. Will Guest.

We arrived at 9pm, and were immediately struck by the lovely laid back ambiance. Both the outside terrace/eating area, and the indoor lounge, was packed with people enjoying the chilled out atmosphere.

El Mono Loco is divided into two distinct sections. The enclosed patio area, which looks out on to the main beach road, housing the eight or so barbeque tables; and the indoor lounge area with the most comfortable chairs I have ever seen in a bar. They are the kind of chairs you just want to curl up in, with a nice bottle of El Mono Loco ridiculously cheap but tasty house wine and never leave!

So then on to one of the reasons we had chosen this venue, the grub! Well not only were the portions huge, and I do mean huge, when the food came out it was beautifully presented, and all the meat was basted in El Mono Locos freshly prepared mouth watering marinade. For our 6am veggie girl, they had skewered a selection of delicious mixed vegetables, that unfortunately looked so good the rest of us pinched them, sorry Jo!!

The waitresses were very friendly and extremely accommodating. When asked for an extra piece of steak they were happy to oblige, even though it was only one more piece for our red blooded 6am security man. All barbeque platters are served with a choice of salad, chips, jacket potato or rice. The mixed grill for 2 at only €29.95 is the best option, and with the quantity of food can easily feed 3 adults, or 2 adults and a couple of kids.

This simple but very sociable idea of allowing you to cook your chosen food the way you like it, is the perfect setting for a group of you to enjoy together. Their specialty table’s seat up to eight people, but extra tables can be added on to allow for bigger groups if required.

El Mono Loco appeals to all age groups and provides good disabled access to all areas. Food is served daily until 11pm. Tables are cleared away quickly, toilets are checked regularly and their drinks prices are extremely reasonably. €1.50 for a coke, €2.50 a pint of beer €4.50 a spirit mix, €3.95 a pint of Guinness, €3.00 for their specialty Green King IPA and only €6.50 a bottle of house wine.

But…… that’s not all El Mono Loco have to offer, OH NO! They also have the wonderfully talented Mr. Will Guest on his acoustic guitar every other Friday night, and what an amazingly accommodating young man he is.

Will entertains you with a great selection of well known songs from Oasis, David Grey, T-Rex and many other well known “can’t help but sing along” tracks. But even better, as the 6am girls found out, has no problem with you getting up there and joining him for a bit of jamming. Unfortunately for Will he didn’t realise that once the 6am girls were offered the mic, he would have a problem getting rid of us. Oh well it’s all about having fun and making a prat of yourself isn’t it? And we do it sooooooo well!!

El Mono Loco is a wonderfully situated bar, with a really friendly atmosphere and that’s thanks to their great staff, Kate, Mark, Francesca, Anna, Sandra and Mike who made the 6am girls feel really welcome the minute we walked through the door.

The 6am girls had a wonderful evening in their company and would recommend anyone wanting to try a unique and delicious eating experience, in the company of some really great people, to get themselves down to El Mono Loco and book a table mas rapido and sample it for yourself, we promise you won’t be disappointed!

Celebration was the name of the game this Saturday night, and the 6am girls take celebrating to the max wherever we go. It was the birthday of our youngest 6am girl Jess, so we knew we needed to go somewhere with a real party atmosphere. During the week we had heard about the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s theme night being held at Achill on Saturday 12th April. We thought this was a great opportunity to review two of the most popular bars on Javea’s Arenal and give our birthday girl a taste of some classic funky tunes from before she was even a twinkle in her mummy’s eye! Ahhhhh bless.

Our first stop of the evening was our regular Saturday night stint at the Coast FM studios, which is now more like our second home, we even have keys!

This week not only did we have the pleasure of the charming Mr Dougie Mac, but we also got to meet a couple of his lovely DJ friends, Sharon & Ryan from UK based Sovereign radio, here sampling the liquid delights of the Costa Blanca. So with at least 12 of us in the Coast FM studio, the party had kicked off with some of Dougies great Ascension tunes and a lot of fruit inspired lubrication, and it was only 10pm!
Im sure you can all see where this is leading.

After prying ourselves away from Coast FM, we head straight to a bar with a reputation for the biggest, best and most potent cocktails in Javea, Jalousie. For that special birthday celebration, it is imperative that our birthday girl drinks at least one Jalousie’s famous Desastre cocktails to celebrate her coming of age. Add in a couple more Desastre’s, and you find making sand angels on the beach is also a must do, fortunately with the numbing amount of alcohol in this potent cocktail, chaffing in the pant region is not a problem, ask Tinks one of our 6am girls, she can certainly verify this for a fact!

Jalousie or to all us old timers Champagne, appeals to such a wide variety of age groups and nationalities, that this bar is rarely empty come morning, noon or night.
Opening daily from 8am with one of the best English breakfasts on the beach at €7.75, then continuing throughout the day with a variety of delicious snack, tapas, salads, pastas and sandwiches, served, weather permitting, on their lovely sun terrace, overlooking the beautiful Arenal beach. Drinks prices are not the cheapest in Javea but reasonable considering its great beachfront location.

For your evening festivities you can start off with one of their tasty main course meals starting from €7.00, then work you way through their extensive cocktail menu, including a selection of non alcoholic cocktails for the designated drivers. Vegetarians are catered for and they also provide a good selection of children’s meals from €4.95.

Service is fast and efficient, tables are cleared quickly and waitresses are friendly and helpful. Our only negative comments are about the toilets; they do need to be checked on a more regular basis, as sinks were blocked and overflowing quite early on and still the same an hour later.

Apart from that, the trip to Jalousie was certainly a good start to our evening, and our 6am girl Jo summed up the feeling of this bar in one succinct sentence.
“It’s a well known, busy bar with a real buzz, the kind of place to see and be seen” and we think she was spot on.

A day trip or night out in Javea is not complete without sampling a bit of this popular beach bars famous hospitality. The 6am girls think its one of the best places in Javea to kick start your evening festivities before moving down the road to Jalousie’s louder bigger brother Achill nightclub, which is where the 6am girls are headed next………
